My wife went in for MRI with contrast for her annual check-up/cancer screening. She should have received a cost treatment estimate (plan) prior to going in (we only found out later from their billing dept that she was supposed to get one) so we were shocked to see the bill afterwards ($12K). The billing office had already contacted the insurance co for a VOB a week or more prior to her appointment so they were aware that her coverage was very limited for a MRI. The hospital practices price transparency according to their website but not in this case. We have written to them regarding this case but no word from Rose Med. Perhaps they will respond to this post. We are thinking of contacting the media regarding this as I don't think we have been treated fairly and in an ethical manner. I understand that hospitals are basically a profit-generating business but to squeeze as much money from patients as possible while disregarding their own "high" standards outlined on their website is unacceptable, unethical and highly upsetting.
