Until recently, I have been very satisfied with the sales and service. My most recent service experiences have had a severely negative impact. A couple of weeks after taking my car in for routine maintenance, it began stuttering when accelerating and while driving. It turned out to be an issue with the spark plugs being loose, but when I took it back in and had to pay for a "diagnostic," the service manager told me the valve cover gasket needed replacing and quoted me a price 2 to 4 times what it would have cost to have the work done elsewhere, based on later research. Obviously, I did not have the work done that day, and I was assured that continuing to drive the vehicle until I could get it fixed would not leave me stranded. When the issue got worse, and I nearly got stranded a few miles from home, I looked under the hood and found the bolts holding the spark plug covers only partially screwed in, except for one, which was not screwed in at all, lying alongside the spark plug covers. I called the service manager and he did tow my car in and had everything put back together the way it was supposed to be, but when I asked him why no one noticed this before, he said they don't normally check the spark plugs during regular maintenance. But I PAID them to find out why the car was having issues and they somehow "overlooked" the spark plugs. Either the mechanic was incompetent, or it was malicious. Once it was all put back together, it ran just as smooth as the day I drove it off the lot, and they wanted me to pay $1600 for work that was not even the cause of the problem. To get this review posted, I have to give them at least one star, but I would give them zero stars if I could. I will NEVER return to Capital Ford for service.
