Review of Marriott Detroit Southfield

Nice location, good staff and fairly decent amenit...

Nice location, good staff and fairly decent amenities: pool, fitness center, ample parking, Wi-Fi AND the latest TV boosters, if you will, that allows access to Netflix, among others apps, without having to bring you own equipment (nice surprise!) within the standard king room with all the usual accoutrements. Bed was just a bit to soft and old style for my tastes, but it served the purpose.- Sadly, although it's not the hotels fault, there are also some unseemly elements that also stay here. It sad when you return from a party; are greeted upon entering with a smile from the desk staff only to ride the elevator to your floor and BOOM! Marijuana. Right in your face. Throughout the floor. That is incredibly sad and very disrespectful to the other guests. Luckily, the check-in staff promptly and courteously moved us to another floor and all has been well since.
I'm finding more and more that even at a Marriott (only certain locations) you cannot get away from the trash and their actions at certain locations throughout the country. It's too bad, since it brings down the reputation of the hotel and I promise we won't be staying here again.
