As a healthcare professional, I would avoid using Cataldo after what I witnessed today. I have witnessed many things in healthcare and understand that patients can sometimes be frustrating, but they rely on us to take their fears away - their frustrations are not personal. They re just afraid, they don t know the system like we do, they re in pain, they re sick, and they feel vulnerable.

I first realized how inpatient the driver was when I witnessed the her park the ambulance diagonally, where no traffic could pass at 4:43 on a Thursday afternoon. She had plenty of room to parallel park, and when other drivers suggested pulling over so that traffic could get by, she shoo-ed them away.

Everyone in traffic then watched as she assisted a very elderly and frail male from his home. She rushed him down the stairs to where he almost fell forward not once but THREE TIMES. He tried to grab the railing multiple times, I assume because he didn t feel safe with her leading him down the stairs, and she grabbed his hand away from the railing (as if saying I don t have time for this ).

She then placed him in the wheelchair, DID NOT secure him in, and she rushed him in the wheelchair over bumps and holes in the sidewalk and over sidewalk ledges to where the elderly male nearly fell forward out of the wheelchair. She pushed and shoved him into the ambulance in a rush.

It hurt my heart to see this happen, and it s unfortunate that we have people like this working in healthcare. There s no way that man felt safe in any way. Your patients need your patience - just keep that in mind.
