This hospital has some of the worst support staff I've ever encountered. The nurses have all been great and most of the techs are too. However, it is severely understaffed and they can only do so much. I have to say the social workers here are apathetic and incompetent. They have terrible attitudes on top of it. I was here when my grandmother had a traumatic head injury following a fall. The nurses and techs were diligent and many of them went above and beyond. However, when it was time to find a nursing and rehab center to help her regain mobility the caseworker found several homes that were too far for her family to visit. I pointed out a few closer options and he was completely indignant even though I gave him the correct zip code in the first place. After I called several times he was finally able to contact the nursing home I requested only to find out they were not able to take my grandmother. Instead of offering a listing of homes in the area, the social worker suggested I call and talk to them myself, which I did since he did not feel like doing his job. The intake person mentioned that the case worker who contacted the nursing home mentioned the reasons why she might not be a good patient, which helped them to make a decision. In closing, I hope this department gets cleaned out when Wellstar takes over the medical center since they've done nothing but a huge disservice to my family.
