Robin Gardner Review of Baltimore Washington Medical C...

I have been an inpatient here for a few major surgeries and I have always received the most professional and caring care. Some of these reviews in here are ridiculous. One woman who had a c-section was complaining because they discharged her on her third day. Usually it's two days so she was being treated extra good. I had a hip replacement just over a month ago and they had me up the next morning. Oh, it hurt like heck but that is what you have to do to prevent blood clots and start the healing process. People don't stay in the hospital for 7-8 days like they did 20 years ago. It just doesn't help and actually keeps people from getting up and starting the healing process. I was discharged on the third day. Sure, I was in pain but of course I knew I would be for a while. This is the best hospital within 30 miles of Baltimore. The doctors are great. The nurses and aides are exceptional and I will choose this hospital over many others anytime. I realize not everyone is going to have a great experience but you get out of it what you put into it. Just because you have a major surgery is not a reason to lay around and have people wait on you like you are on vacation! People need to help the doctors and nurses with their care, plus nowadays most insurance companies require a discharge on the third day for most surgeries so half of the time it is not up to the nurses and doctors to keep you there. Believe me, if you are not up to leaving they will keep you longer and handle it with your insurance company. Most of the bickering I've read on here about the hospital is because people thought they were discharged too soon or wanted more pain medicine. Sounds like a bunch of whiners to me. They should get over it. This is an excellent hospital and everyone I have ever dealt with from the emergency department to the inpatient floors and testing areas have been awesome and I highly recommend on taking a chance on this hospital.
