The Nomad is a great opportunity to experience Daniel Humm's cuisine at a lower price point than Eleven Madison. The decor is stunning, with glass ceiling opening up the room to the stars, and a very elegant dining area. The ambience is very classic and old fashioned, and the service is impeccable. The clientele is varied, and although the space feels very high end, it is a relaxed atmosphere. The food itself is well presented, with great textures and flavors. Highlights include the gentle, smooth crab tagliatelle, and a cauliflower dish containing crunchy marcona almonds and fruit. Their Milk & Honey Dessert is a light, delicious, surprising end to the meal, and they have an impressive selection of high quality teas. One of their signature dishes is the roast chicken with foie gras, which I did not try. The Butternut squash dish was disappointing when I tried it, because the piece of butternut we received was not sweet enough to balance out the other more acidic flavors in the dish. Overall, a very refreshing take on old New York, with an inventive menu.
