A beautiful space but to be frank, the food was a letdown. I m not a heavy eater, especially with the bayou heat, so I ordered the trio of soups & an order of the shrimp ceviche. My grandma ordered a bowl of gumbo and wanted to try boudin, so we ordered a side of that. The waitress seemed really disappointed that we didn t order more food and asked me several times if I wanted to order anything else, even after I declined each time & explained that I didn t want to eat a lot (which I shouldn t have to do). The ceviche was delicious & refreshing and one of the three soups (the soup de jour of creole shrimp & tomato bisque) was noteworthy, but the gumbo and turtle soup, which apparently are their specialties, lacked flavor and seasoning. The gumbo was floury & too thick, like the roux wasn t thinned out and the turtle soup - which I grew up eating so it wasn t unfamiliar or novel - well, I didn t make it past a second bite. The boudin was literally a heap of uncased sausage plopped onto a plate; texture and presentation were off-putting, to say the least, although the flavor was nice & it wasn t too spicy, like boudin sometimes can be.
Credit where due: service across the restaurant (except the weird pushy encounter with the waitress) was wonderful. The dinner view overlooked the outdoor courtyard, which was very pleasant. But overall, for our last meal in New Orleans, it was the least remarkable meal that we had the entire five days of our trip.
