WARNING!!!

WARNING!!!
We found rodent droppings and dead bugs all over when we moved out of our climate controlled unit. We were in a separate building across the street. There was a coffee company in the front half of the building. This is where I assume the rats came from. Needless to say I was not thrilled. I called the office and they came down and took pictures. I asked them what they were going to do about it and they just kept saying "if you find any damages call the insurance company." So we took pictures and called the insurance company and put in a claim for our mattress and boxspring. A set of sheets that was on top of a box had urine on them. The boxspring cover had been chewed through and the mattress had stains on it. The rodents also ruined an art project that I had made out of playing cards. The cards had bite marks all along the edges.
The insurance company denied our claim because they do not insure against damages caused by vermin but they do cover loss or damages caused by strikes, riot, self-propelled missiles or spacecraft and sinkholes.This is the insurance that they forced used to purchase upon moving into the unit 1.5 years ago. So basically the only thing that they cover are freak accidents and alien invasions.
When I went back to the Extra Space Storage office, they told me that they had someone come inspect the unit. The inspector said they were little plastic pieces not rodent droppings. Which is complete crap! All 4 of us saw the droppings. They said they were not responsible for the damages and to call the insurance company. I told them what the insurance company said and they said they would not help me.
I rented a storage unit in Fairhope, AL for 3 years and never found spider webs and eggs all over the boxes or bugs all over the floor. This is UNACCEPTABLE! I can't believe they are allowed to scam people into renting an unit in the "brand new climate controlled building". I also found things that had melted in my boxes.

Also, after the first month of moving our stuff in, they increased the monthly rate by $40 without a notice. We just paid it so we wouldn't have to move our stuff again.
I do not recommend this storage facility to anyone unless you are ok with being ripped off and rodents crawling all over your stuff.
