Perfect place if you love museum kind of place otherwise don't prefer this place because it will consume your whole day almost and you will not have enough energy after here to visit another place. Although you can go inside the pyramid to buy tickets. Queue on ground level is just for security check and if you have online tickets then you can enter directly without queue. My suggestion would be if you don't want to buy ticket still you should go inside pyramid area and roam there.
