We can't believe that the gushing reviews we read are real reviews. Sort the reviews and go to the lowest rated ones. Those accurately describe everything we found when we arrived. We only had the choice of a downstairs room in Mountain view lodge because we booked last minute. The pics on the website and booking.com must be their 2 nicest rooms on the property our room was not even close to those. No screens on the sliding glass doors, or the one window we would have left open for fresh air and to cool room down. The other windows faced the back parking lot and stairs to 2nd floor so everyone could see into our bed area and other window in the shower. The lock on the sliding glass door was NOT secure, had to try several times each night before it would lock at all, no extra bolt or securing system. NO SMOKE DETECTOR...how is that even up to code for a public lodging facility!!! Bath drain didn't drain when brushing teeth. No outlet in bathroom to dry your hair or curl. Tiny love seat (where set our luggage), no luggage rack of any kind or dresser. Seriously, $30 on Amazon and you get luggage racks at least! This was our anniversary weekend, we planned late and this was the only available room we could find, SO many regrets. We did not sleep either night, the upstairs room floors squeaked loudly when they walked, which was most of the night, heard all their voices, even heard when they went to the bathroom at 3 am! On night 2 there was a dog barking in that room above us and someone decided to park a large white truck in front of our room so we couldn't even enjoy the lake view anymore. No staff walks around to check on things like that. We should not have to call someone about barking dogs that aren't supposed to be there and trucks blocking other people's rooms and the stairway to get down from our porch!! That's part of your job and what we are paying for. The room was reasonably clean, the bed was just okay, we brought our own pillows (good thing because theirs are very flat). We will never stay there again and spent time scouting out better places to stay next time.
We are in Estes once or twice per year, we were hoping this would be a better facility than if is. Not worth the money. Would have left early if we could have gotten a refund on 2nd night.
