Ended up with a reservation here because their sister property The Caravelle Resort canceled my reservations with them a week before my family vacation. Needless to say it was not my ideal location as we wanted to be on the South part of Myrtle Beach. Checking in was a complete hassle. They have maybe six front desk helpers and yet the wait to check in was an hour at the least. They have about 8 or so elevators which are slow as every and clearly not enough to accommodate the large number or rooms there. Front desk staff is friendly but had a problem with a few guys that monitored the indoor pool area. My 5 year old daughter and maybe 4 other kids here age were playing in the indoor kiddie area pool with 3 of the lazy river floats. Two gentleman that worked for the hotel marched up angrily and began to yell at the 6 children that were playing so innocently. Mind you there were 4 adults in that area. Myself, my husband and 2 other parents. Instead of speaking with the parents first in a calmly manner they immediately started yelling at the kids about how the floats were not suppose to be in that area. Totally unacceptable. After the situation was defused and advising these gentleman that they should have spoken with the parents first, I spoke with a manager about how unprofessional they were. This really ticked me off. The room itself was pretty spacious and the view was fantastic. The furniture is PAST outdated. Holes in furniture and mold on lamps. We did not sit on the living room furniture. Gousekeeping had not done a good job cleaning prior to our arrival either because there were chips from previous guests in corners and under the bed. Hallways were deathly hot as air conditioner units backs hung out from the rooms into them. Elevators also have no air. Was not my first choice and definitely won't ever be a choice again. Very dissapointed all the way around.
