After a recent trip to Cape Cod, we were lucky enough to visit Cape Cod Winery. A friend from Japan was visiting Cape Cod. On his behalf, we were doing some research on where he should go while he visited. We suggested him to visit Martha s Vineyard. He asked if he could go for wine tasting at Martha s Vineyard. With no wineries on Martha s Vineyard, we luckily found this great winery. He did not end up going but upon our latest visit to the Cape we made a beeline for this cute winery.

The Cape Cod Winery is run by the Olleander family. Pete, the owner, with his wife were our wine tasting guide. He was very amiable. It was a Sunday in August so it was still high season on the cape. We were lucky to come just after they opened but they were already busy with two separate groups.

The winery wine tasting area is inside the kitchen of the Olleander s house. It is really refreshing to see a small business owners working hard with their local product. I liked this older renovated farm house which had a lot of character to it.

The wine tasting progressed with four wines. They had quite a few varieties. Blueberry was sold out when we visited. We are very partial to more fruity wines. For our tasting, we started with Cranberry Blush which not too tart and list. Then, we had Nobska White Light which was light citrus flavor to it. The Nobska Light is called the White Table Wine. We moved onto red wine. We had the Merlot/Cabernet Franc which is aged in oak barrels with a fruity character. We ended with Regatta which is a dessert wine with Concord, Peaches, and Strawberries.

We bought six bottles of wine with the Nobska Light, Cranberry and Regatta filling out a nice box for us. I look forward to getting more wine next time in Falmouth. Check photos at a foodlovergirl website
