VeronicaVirna Review of Best Western Chilworth Manor

The first night we had a decent room. Newly refurbished or fairly new anyway. We needed to prolong for an extra Sunday night and we were told we would have to move rooms. We got moved in a room that would be more suitable for a 2 star rated place from my experience... the bottom of the tub is grimy and grey (don't think it comes off too well in the photo....) the radiator doesn't work and it's ridiculously old, the remote occasionally works but we have up on fighting it, to name but a few of the issues with the room. The portions of dinner were SMALL. We were told they were out of peas and offered veggies instead but only one of our plates came with the veggies. My fish and a tiny bit of salad felt more like a starter than a meal... but the fish was nicely cooked in all fairness... the desserts aren't worth it at all though! The strudelS were actually only 1 strudel (which was NOT a strudel, but a take on a pancake folded triangularly) and the white chocolate tart was actually a sponge cake with milk chocolate which was a bit of a joke really :)) couldny ser any trace of whitr chicolate :)) All in all, paying the same amount for both rooms makes me feel a bit ripped off but the staff are really nice and the grounds are lovely. To crash for a night or two because it's the most convenient place it's OK, but I wouldn't stay here as a holiday choice...they started taking furniture out of the room while we were still there waaay before closing time (more than an hour or so) Some sort of cleaning to be done from what we were told but we did felt pressured to leave or like they were going to take the chairs out with us :)) I feel bad about saying what bad of an impression the place has left since the guys behind the bar do seem fairly nice...but I hope it improves.
