Ups and downs on The Hub

Ups and downs on The Hub

I just have to admit that I was both looking forward and excited about what awaited me when I walked in the doors of The Hub.
The hotel that used to be there, Royal Christiania, was my favorite hotel for about 20 years and I probably had quite high expectations.
What you notice right away is the atmosphere.
I'm pretty conservative by myself and do not like too much bling bling, but here I think they have hit very well. It was not too much of anything at the same time as I saw the spectacular in a part of the design and installation.
The atmosphere was consistent. It sat in me throughout my stay and one simply enjoys this hotel.
However, there are some but up this too.

There are still obviously some hickups left (for those of us who followed the opening on Dplay, we know that there were various run-in problems)
I had chosen to spend NOK 500 extra to upgrade to a Deluxe room. I also chose to prepay this in Choice's app to save time at check-in.

As I said before, I felt the good feeling already when I entered the main entrance. However, there were some smokers who plagued the area but that is a problem all hotels have.
The Hub was pretty full that day, so instead of waiting for a receptionist to become available, I chose the option of registering cards myself in a self-help box. However, this did not work as the system had not detected my room upgrade. (It ended up that they reserved the amount twice. So then I do not understand the point of paying in advance via the app or on the internet. You do not save time anyway)
Fortunately, I did not have to wait long to get help. Very pleasant receptionist who was brilliant and came with all the information I needed.
In addition to being helpful, I felt that she enjoyed working here herself. It helps a lot in the atmosphere there too!
Fantastic system with the new lifts that choose which lift to use. I reckon that this is environmentally good and energy-saving over time. Good choice!

The room I was given was very nice. Nice fashionable colors. And once again - Great atmosphere.
The only problem was that it was so terribly cold. I tried to turn up and ended up at 30 degrees, but nothing happened.
It was also another big minus. The only chair in the room was a relatively uncomfortable office chair.
In a deluxe room for which you have paid extra, you should be able to expect that it is either a sofa or an armchair.
On the other hand, the bed was absolutely fantastic. Duvet and pillow that made you not want to get up.
Had it been two degrees warmer, sleep would have been ultimate.

In the morning I came to a wonderful breakfast area that invited to socialization and well-being.
Mostly the same food as at Royal Christiania but presented far nicer.
