Even better than expected. The sheer number of mammoth bones staggers the mind. The museum has done a fantastic job of contextualizing the site, from the excellent video explaining how so many animal remains ended up in one place to the size and scale of the creatures of the Pleistocene Era. Don't miss the additional museum area where you can see a recreation of a habitation built from mammoth bones, some mummified mammoth remains retrieved from Russian permafrost, and some history on mammal paleontology in the Black Hills and surrounding areas.
