Holland Heating & Cooling came out to do our yearly air conditioning unit service for 2015. The technician said everything looked ok but said our unit was too old (18 yrs) to add any additional R22 (freon) and that we would have to replace the whole unit if R22 was needed since it was "against the law" to put R22 into an a/c unit as old as ours. THEN 4 weeks later, the a/c went down 7/24/15. My health condition requires air conditioning, it is not a luxury, it is a necessity. I called Holland to come out and they said it would be a service call $109 plus any additional costs (after I had already paid them $259 for a yearly furnace/a-c Contract). I have discovered that Holland's technicians are paid a COMMISSION on anything they sell, therefore, it is my opinion that he wanted to sell us a NEW unit and not fix it.
THEN I called another Heating & Cooling company and they sent out a technician who PUT R22 into the unit and got it up and running again the same day at a very reasonable price.
As a senior citizen, I am appalled at the tactics that Holland Heating uses to get their techs to 'scare' people into buying equipment that could easily be repaired at a fraction of the cost. I will never do business with Holland again and I will also tell all my friends to steer clear of them. Buyer, beware.
