My wife and I purchased an indexed annuity several years ago after being assured many things none of which are true, due to the seeming purposeful complexity of this "product". The annuity we purchased is now worth less than when it was purchased. To illustrate, it actually lost money from 12/31/18 to 5/12/19, despite this period being at record high levels according to 2 of 3 indices. And this does not account for the 12% surrender charge and 5% Market Value Adjustment, should we want to get out. That is 17%. It should be against the law. BUYER BEWARE. Read and understand what you are signing.
