If you have been before this is not going to be the same as previous visits.

Otherwise I don't have a complaint with the park itself, who in my opinion have done everything they can to ensure people attending feel safe during the lockdown easing. The whole park is marked out with a one way system, many people aren't adhering to it and that can be a challenge if you have small children but it is all marked out. Same with the queues, food places and rides.

A busy summer visit would see you experience some lengthy queues and despite reduced numbers in the park this is still going to be the case now. You can however be reassured that the delays are due to the extra measures being taken with the regular cleaning and social distancing measures in place. I saw more staff on each ride than I have ever seen before, more communication on measures taken and also the responsibilities and guidelines you must take as a customer. All of the staff were polite and patient with everyone I saw in what must be a pretty stressful time for them as well.

I noticed some rides are closed, I assume for safety reasons (the haunted house for example) and others will close and open during in the day so download the app and keep an eye on the ones you want. Same for the shops and stalls, which seemed to open and close with the direction of traffic, for example most of the cafes/shops at the top of the park are closed for entry time but open when you are leaving.

We went Friday 17th July and there were no shows on at this time. Understandable but I think the website messaging implies there will be some shows on. You can meet the Lego characters (at a distance) such at Lego Friends and characters from the movies regularly throughout the park.

Legoland itself has a had a much needed facelift. Previous visits have always left me thinking it needed a good wash and dust but the current situation and planned renovations have given it a fresher look. New rides and a refresh in Duplo Valley, the splash park is closed, better park, new helicopters, little rollercoaster are fab. The submarine has a new theme (essentially the same ride but why mess with a classic?!). The Knights/Castle part has been refreshed, new look and displays and you can see small parts throughout the park that are new (and clean!).

I'm not going to lie the food is functional, don't expect a culinary delight. The burger bar in the Pirates part is the best in my opinion. Lots of the smaller food stalls are closed but the drinks ones are open. You can buy donuts and ice creams etc. Most importantly at the moment though they are clean, well staffed both in the queue and within the dining spaces and offer you the option to eat outside. You can of course take a picnic and there is lots of outdoor dining spaces in which to do that. The food within the park is overpriced but convenient especially if you already have your hands full. You will get an email before your visit with food offers on it, download the vouchers and save a bit.

All in all I was impressed with the lengths Legoland had gone to to ensure customers felt safe from the temperature check on arrival to those walking around spot cleaning high footfall areas of the park, to the hand sanitisers everywhere, to the polite staff. I also think everyone was so pleased to be out and about everyone was just that little bit nicer to each other :o). My daughter loved it (age 6) and as we live locally we will go back again this summer.
