It's a real shame I have to write this review, as previously I have enjoyed visiting this gallery until my experience today. I visted the Hattie Stewart exhibition - I don't have time for this' and regretfully wished I didn't bother.
I attended the gallery with my two year old toddler - despite the sign encouraging participants to laugh, enjoy, and photograph their experience I was approached by a member of staff who to asked me to keep my son quite. Not that I need to justify his behaviour, he was actually behaving perfectly - laughing and enjoying the space as to be expected.
I was obviously taken a back by such a ridiculous comment, and feeling very offended I left. In all honesty since becoming a parent I have never felt so insulted by a comment made by a third person.
I was told a meeting was taking place, this is midday on a Saturday, and told to keep him quiet (he was laughing and enjoying the exhibition).
In the end we left abrutly, actually forcing our child when he was enjoying himself, which is the point of the exhibition.
If you intend to visit with small children, I suggest visit with caution - expect an unwelcome experience.
