We visited shortly after landing at the Santa Rosa...

We visited shortly after landing at the Santa Rosa airport, about 1 hour away. The Adobe is old (1842) beautiful and has been lovingly restored. The six of us tasted at a beautifully appointed table with the best crystal available, and enjoyed seven wines including a 2006 (yes, 2006) chardonnay that still had a heady aroma and was pure gold on the palate. The current chard is excellent and can easily be cellared for several years, if you can wait that long. Our host, Steve Gerstle treated us like royalty, explained the history of the Adobe and the winery, and when our tasting was finished, having savored the Pinots and loving them, Steve showed us around the other buildings and grounds. A place not to be missed!
