BEWARE: After years of banking with the same bank,...

BEWARE: After years of banking with the same bank, we had to change due to our bank closing. We decided to diversify our money between Ally and Huntington. Fast forward to 6/20/19 when we had our daughters annual tuition drafted from our Ally Bank acct., on 7/15 we were notified that they school was closing. We have not received our money back. ($16,500). We filed a dispute immediately through our bank but it was denied. (Reg E was cited). At first I understood and continued to pursue with the school without resolution. Then I started to hear from other families that their bank filed a dispute and had refunded their tuition and was acting on behalf of their customer.

I don t know why Ally does things differently but I just know I m out $16,500 and this wouldn t have happened if I banked with someone else. I seriously feel like I m in a scene from Rainmaker. And their dispute department is completely untouchable. They mail you letters when they deny a claim and they only sign it with a first name. They don t provide phone numbers and if you try to reach this department you re told they can only email the department. I was even told at one point by the customer service team that they understood and not to worry because we should get our money to be denied via an anonymous letter 4 days letter.

Don t be fooled by Ally, they are not the same as your local bank....know that when it matters most, they are not your advocate.
