It's pretty, but full of regulations. None the less it is worth it. We've been there in the summer and in the middle of winter. Winter is real nice, we were the only two visitors the day we went. Services are very limited in winter. We got to pet the National Park sled dogs too. In summer it is a full service national park with the tour bus travelling all the way to Wonder Lake (a LOT of mosquitoes there) and a TON of visitors. The campgrounds are nice, but it may rain on you and it will be cold at night in summer. You can take the train from Anchorage to this park, and that is a nice, but expensive experience. There is wildlife here, like bears! So you have to be very aware of were you are hiking and avoid those predators. Stay away from moose too, they have bad tempers and can kill you. Please drive extremely carefully on the Parks Highway as there is a lot of black ice on the road and your rental car will not have tires that grip the ice, like the local have on their cars. Go slow because if you go off the highway, your car will roll and it will be difficult to spot your wrecked car from the road, because you will be 20ft down. A great park, and a must see if you are in Alaska. However, we liked driving East on the Denali highway better. Lot's of wildlife and no one is constantly saying "shhhhh" when there is wildlife around.
