Like much of Cleveland, The Cleveland Zoo is up and coming. The charm, amenities, and programming expand every year. It has become a strong cultural center in it's own right. My kids love it here. However, be forewarned, it is still a zoo. It is still filled with bored looking caged animals with broken spirits. Should our desire to experience the exotic take precedent over other creatures' instinctual need to run free? Do the zoo's contributions to conservation balance our enabling of subjugation? Come decide for yourself. As a society we shouldn't be afraid to ask questions.
