STAY AWAY. This company is awful, unethical, sleazy, corrupt -- choose any negative adjective. My wife, my daughter, and her roommate's family toured the apartments in the summer, and we signed a lease. The rental agent knew that we would be subletting the rooms, and must have noted this in Collier's internal documentation. That's because we were switched to a much-worse apartment than promised, with no living room, no real kitchen, and tiny bedrooms. The subletters complained that the apartment was awful and filled with bugs, but we just assumed the girls would have to engage management to fix the issues. Well, there's no fixing lies and deceit. The girls just got to Gainesville to find "their apartment" was a disaster -- tiny, filthy, roach-infested. An agent shows them the apartment on the floor above, and guess what? It's really nice -- exactly what my family toured and signed up for. Of course, this apartment is $125 more. This "new" apartment's cost is the same as the cost for furnished apartments with WiFi. We will be paying all utilities, including Internet -- and the Collier Companies have my daughter over a barrel. She spent half an hour arguing/complaining, and at the end of it, she has to sign the lease for the more expensive apartment because there are no apartments left in Gainesville, and she has to be moved in this week to start classes on 07-JAN. You have been warned -- this company just takes advantage of inexperienced kids, and it's obvious they count on busy parents not being around to hammer the unethical managers here.
