We were disappointed with the Chelsea Hotel. We booked a Deluxe room expecting a 3.5 to 4 star experience and we ourselves rating our experience at 2 stars. It felt like we were staying at a rundown highway-side motel, rather than a downtown expensive hotel. We thought we were treating ourselves to an expensive 2 night stay in a nice hotel room with at least some of the perks that you would expect with an expensive room; however, we found that the room came with only the bare necessities and the hotel staff seemed unmotivated and almost annoyed to have to provide service. To be completely clear, our experience was adequate, but far below our expectations for what was advertised and the price. It is clear that the Hotel has put some effort into updating its facilities; however, there are clear divides between what has been updated and what has not. With so much competition in downtown Toronto, its hard to believe they can get away with charging the rates that they are charging.

We will likely not be staying at the Chelsea Hotel again, which is too bad because it is conveniently located in a great part of town.
