This course was awesome. Some of the best views I've ever seen on any course I've ever played, and I've been fortunate to play some scenic ones. Best views are mostly on the front nine, and on 18. Very interesting course. All the holes were unique and challenging without being gimmicky. Tons of elevation change means your tee shots may end up way further than you think if you catch the slopes further down some of the fairways. You need to make sure to put your tee shot high side of the fairways because it will run all the way down to the low side and these fairways will certainly run. There are also hidden waste areas of tall grass that are not obvious if you've never played there before, so I might ask the starter or one of the pros about this before you play. The wind was pretty intense when we played, it was pretty punishing at times and then at other holes seem to have no effect. The greens were actually quite slow, much slower than I was anticipating although I'm sure when the tour players come through they are much faster. I was really surprised by all the blind tee shots. I would say most of the tee shots on the front nine are blind which is challenging but just a unique feature of the course. We did get rained on intermittently throughout the round, I think that's typical Hawaii weather but just something to be aware of, the rain would last 5 minutes and then it would be sunny again (we played in mid November). And then I would say the front and back have a different feel to them, the front is mostly coastal views and undulating fairways, The back nine is more inland, feels a little more straightforward and easier but I found it harder to score on. Overall this was an amazing course and one I will never forget.
