It is located in the Shuvalov Palace and presents the works of the great master of jewelry art, as well as objects of applied art from the turn of the 19th-20th century, paintings and much more. The museum was created by the Foundation "Link of Times" by Viktor Vekselberg, which has long nurtured the idea of creating a full-fledged center preserving the cultural heritage of Russia, and has been selecting exhibits for many years. The most famous items of the museum are the collection of 9 Faberge eggs, which Vekselberg bought in 2004 from newspaper magnate Malcolm Forbes. He bought it in bulk - even before the opening of the auction, thus providing himself with an advantage and paying $ 100 million. Subsequently, he replenished the collection with an egg-shaped King George I bonbonniere and the Safra collection set. The exposition of the museum, the largest private collection of Russian applied art of the XIX-XX centuries, contains more than 4,000 items. Its central part is reserved for the demonstration of the products of the famous court jewelry company. Vakselberg has assembled the second largest collection of Faberge gift eggs (there are 10 in the collection of the Moscow Kremlin). In the exposition you can see the very first egg - "Hen", made by the master in 1885. The guests will see canvases by Russian and European artists - Renoir and Korovin, Bryullov and Semiradsky. The Shuvalov Palace was handed over to the foundation in mid-2000 in a dilapidated state. The best craftsmen were involved in its restoration, and the building came to life again, acquiring a luxurious appearance. The cost of the restoration work amounted to about 1 billion 200 million rubles. The opening of the museum after renovation has become a grandiose event in the cultural life of the country. The interiors of the palace, combined with jewelry and art objects, present a decent picture of the genius of Russian masters. In addition to exhibitions, the museum hosts musical and creative evenings, scientific conferences. The concept of the cultural and historical fund is the return to Russia of the historical and artistic values of the nation.
