Chic chain of department stores based in Milan founded in 1865 by the brothers Luigi and Ferdinando Bocconi who opened a shop of ready-made clothes in Via Santa Radegonda (a novelty for that time).
In 1917 the activity was taken over by Senatore Borlotti and at the suggestion of his poet friend Gabriele D'Annunzio it was called La Rinascente as a sign of the store's rebirth.
On Christmas night in 1918, a few days after the inauguration, the headquarters in Piazza Duomo was completely destroyed by fire. It will reopen in 1921 rebuilt and enlarged with numerous new activities becoming an institution for the city and in a few years expanding with a chain of shops in numerous Italian cities.
In 2011, after several changes of ownership, it was taken over by the Thai company Central Group with the intention of expanding it to Asia.
Located in the heart of Milan, it is an obligatory stop for purchases of any kind, from clothing to perfumery, from jewelry to home accessories.
The top floor is dedicated to food, the wine shop, the various restaurants and bars with the spectacular view of the Duomo.
