Howard Luken Review of Josephine's Restaurant & bar

Being from Los Angeles the past 13 years I usually don't review restaurants because there were so many that were so bad. Currently traveling find myself in Flagstaff Arizona. I pick what looks like a nice place But turns out to be the typical trendy yuppie spot. It's in an old Craftsman house which doesnt lend itself to being a restaurant. You practically stumble into the kitchen going in the front door. The menu was small and overpriced. You could easily drop $50 to $100 for a single person in there. An expensive side salad was on a plate the size of a quarter And not very spectacular. I ordered a chicken dish Being the only dish less than $25 which came out far too quick for what it should have been, namely well prepared. The vegetables were soggy and over cooked, The so-called mashed potatoes had something in it like quinoa And came in a tiny lump scooped with a very small ice cream scoop. The half chicken was no more then a boiled Sad little bird That was obviously pre cooked and reheated. It was greasy and in some kind of odd sauce That trendy places like to call Some trendy name. Io ordered a piece of pecan pie with ice cream That arrived in a portion so small I almost laughed. When I tried to cut into it the crust was like a piece of cardboard and I couldn't get the fork or knife through it. For $6 I sent it back. At least the coffee was good and the waitress was sort of on the ball Although she seemed like she wanted to be somewhere else. I still tipped over 20 % because I'm in the service industry too.
