Aoife McDonnell Review of Omni Hotel at CNN Center

So the thing is that I've had two vastly different experiences at this hotel. My first trip was alright and my second trip makes me never want to come back. If I was judging only from the second trip, it would be a 1 star review.
First time I was here was for Momocon 2018. I got a room in the South Tower attached to the CNN center. It was easy to find my way around and had no problems checking in. Hotel looked good in the main lobby but the room looked pretty outdated. It didn't have as many frills as I would expect from a 4 star hotel, but it's fine whatever.
Fast forward to Momocon 2019. I don't ever want to stay here again. First of all, we were given a room in the North Tower. It was noticeably older, dingy at best, and getting around was confusing. The elevators on this side were very slow and only 3 out of 6 seemed to work for most of the weekend. Okay, that's expected from conventions but still pretty inconvienent. It was difficult to get our luggage around the day we left. I'm glad I wasn't in a wheelchair, because it was a nightmare to navigate accessible routes in the North Tower. The handicap elevator to the convention center was "broken" but we were also told they just weren't letting anyone use it so...? Not sure what's going on there.
The kicker though? Our room had cockroaches. Honestly, the room was dirty and the bathtub was funky so kind of not surprised it harbored cockroaches. We switched rooms, but it was still disgusting.
Also, parking is way too expensive so park at a different parking garage. Just a tip from experience.
I'm looking into staying at a different hotel next year for this convention. The only pro was that it was attached to the convention center, but it's just not worth dealing with the hotel anymore.
