I first utilized Autobahn to purchase my certified preowned Mercedes and I was happy enough with their service at the time to contact them when I was ready to sell my car back to a dealer. I was directed to a man named Josh, he is considered one of their Sonic purchasers. My husband and I live three hours away from the dealership, so I made myself clear out the gate that I was only willing to travel that far if- Josh could beat the price I had already been offered locally.
We texted and talked over the phone several times. HE told me he could guarantee $500 more than the price the other dealership had offered. It wasn't the price I wanted, so I made it very clear to him we would not take less than the price he quoted. HE also said he felt like he could probably get more for the car from corporate.
All of this was a huge bait and switch. The man flat out lied to us. I had my husband listen in on our final conversation before we decided to make the huge trek down there in two separate cars.
Once more Josh guaranteed a price of $500 more than the previous offer I had received in addition to his confidence that we may be able to get closer to the price I wanted.
All of this being said when we drove down there, spent three hours on the road-sat for an hour while he made his assessment- he came back with $1,500 less than his promised price and $1000 less than the offer I told him I already had.
Then he denied ever quoting a guaranteed price over the phone. He lied, he was dishonorable and the opitimy of the sleazy car sales man. Only utilize Autobahn's purchase of your vehicle service at your own risk. They do not have upstanding people working there. If I were the company I would re-evaluate who I want to represent me with my customers. Mercedes prides itself on luxury and integrity and this sales person is neither. And if what he said is true he reached out to his managers and they also decided not to honor his promises.
