I've been to South Africa a couple of times and had Biltong and looooved it and been looking for it ever since here in the USA! I was happy to find Stryve recently hoping that it would be close to what I had in SA. It's just okay. I ordered the original flavor and the Hickory. You really need to like Hickory and I decided I don't like Hickory jerky. But the main reason I placed the order was on the original flavor. I thought it was too salty and a bit too peppery that over took the actual beef flavor. It was also a bit too dried out. I'll cut the slack on the dried since this is not fresh like I would get in SA where you would see a hint of the rare pink in the center and the very light oils from it's own fat coating each shaved piece. It was shaved perfectly but the flavor was just off. If you never had the real Biltong you probably wouldn't know the difference.
I'm giving it 3 stars but I think they need tweak the recipe.
