This seventeenth century Gate, built with the extension of the Gianicolensi walls, is in good condition and from the side of Via Portuense it is very beautiful and imposing.

One striking thing is that as a door created for the defense of the territory, it does not present any characteristic elements such as the corridor on the top for the sentinels' walk, nor the classic two watchtowers, so to speak the layout that is visible in the not far from Porta San Paolo.

Today it is used by motorists to access the via Portuense and on Sunday mornings by pedestrians to go to the famous Sunday market, the most characteristic of Rome.
