I am an IHG Spire Elite member who spends 150 nights a year in hotel rooms. This is the worst hotel in the United States for its price. Here are the highlights:

1. No room service for a week. At one point I was calling the Front Desk, Manager and Guest Services every hour seeking an update on when I could get towels or the room cleaned, nobody answered or returned messages. Not once. So if you aren't willing to wake up at 7 am on vacation to have your room cleaned, they won't come back. I found the cleaning lady in the hallway and was told, "I get off work in 20 minutes, I'll come back at 8 am tomorrow" (she never did).

2. Hidden fees. The hotel implemented this orange wristband policy. Even if you had your room key and id, you couldn't enter the hotel if your name wasn't on the original reservation. My niece stays 45 minutes away and wanted to come by and visit for an hour, grab coffee and show me her recent paintings. Hotel security told her "go away or go to jail, NOW." I came down and explained she was just stopping by for an hour and they pointed to the Starbucks across the street and told us to go there, unless I wanted to purchase a security wristband for her for $100 cash only.

3. The room. I booked a Suite for the week, it was pathetic. No mini-fridge, small, dirty, and smelled like someone pissed in it if you let it get warm enough. No room changes were permitted and I was told it's "just how old hotels smell." I asked to be relocated to another IHG property in town and was told everything was booked and a refund would not be permitted.

4. Everything was "out of order." The pool, the fitness room, the restaurant. Everything was closed for Mardi Gras, the hotel was nothing more than an overpriced motel 8 bed to sleep on. I've never seen a hotel use being a full capacity as an excuse for shutting everything down and treating everyone like garbage before - go to any Super Bowl or World Cup and the staff are actually happy to have a full, vibrant, hotel.
