REI really really needs to rethink it's checkout lines. They are long and super inefficient. The new " two trails merge into one" is totally ineffective. There is an inherent problem when I can buy something and check out online quicker than the time it takes me to move through the in-store checkout line. This has been a systemic problem for years so I'm guessing the corporate culture is not open to admitting mistakes. And if so, certainly not progressive in terms of continuous improvement and thinking big.( My two cents). If you would like to avoid long lines and not so great customer service, I would suggest getting there early, ideally as soon as the store opens.
