For all those from points north complaining about out-of-state tuition, please know you are welcome to attend school in your OWN home state. The UNC system exists to educate those from North Carolina with many schools even having certain percentages of in-state students they agree to admit who meet the other requirements. I realize the draw of a school near the beach, but please understand that doesn't guarantee you financial support from an institution, nor does the order in which you apply. This is the case in NC with the UNC system schools as is the case with many other states and their state schools-priority is given to in-state students.The majority of the students come from inside NC and need financial assistance as well as $6000 is not the total cost for 4 years of college as you well know JS. This a NORTH CAROLINA public university for the people of NC as the creators of the UNC system intended.
