Review of LUMS

LUMS is one of the best institutes here in Pakista...

LUMS is one of the best institutes here in Pakistan and offers a wide range of programs and subjects for students to choose from. Gender studies, literature, history, economics, engineering, business education, law and much more. The university being one of the best however, is not without its internal concerns which I believe every university on the planet is tainted with. That being said, if we were to look beyond administrative methods, enrollment issues and more, we get to see a roller-coaster of an experience...sometimes you are on top of the world and sometimes you hit rock bottom; a true depiction of how your heart shows life on an ECG.
People here are really competitive and those who are at the top and and the rock bottom tend to try and score by hook or by crook. The lot in between however, is the one we all admire and they are the true safety net who you can rely on for a somewhat genuine advice in comparison to those who are always looking to bring you down. The campus is open 24/7 (on regular days) and you can easily roam around and enjoy food at any hour especially from the famous Khokha (which many Pakistani students are aware of). I am not going to tell you that because LUMS, everything is perfect. You will find some teachers who will probably be blocking your way from progressing forward however, those are very few and such teachers are everywhere, you can not really do much about it and just get through with the course. That being said, there are more wonderful, professional and world class instructors that really know what they are talking about and truly understand the clockwork of their course. I can mainly speak for the Economics department (since i studied there) and to be honest, they are really good (except for a few). Let me assure you, the rigor is real and it can bring you to tears however, with the support system and your strength, you can easily get through (keep in mind to not listen to pessimistic folks but rather listen to what neutrals have to say). The campus itself is a great place to be, lots of greenery, some wildlife, and entertainment to taper off the edge you get from studies. In the end, all i have to say is, you have to experience it yourself and build your own opinion of experience rather than hearing things from people like me or others regarding what this place is like, because, the way you perceive will never be similar to any other.
