Kavita Batra Review of NWH
I had a procedure done under anesthesia by my doct...
I had a procedure done under anesthesia by my doctor in Newton Wellesly hospital, there were serious complications, I had to return later in the day to the E.R. I was billed for over $2000. Their story-Yes, the hospital does take my insurance, but no, the e.r. doctors don't take my insurance. It is my responsibility to verify which e.r. doctors take my insurance before letting them into my room, or allowing them to examine me in the e.r.! YES! This is what the billing department told me!
And again, this past spring-had an appointment with a specialist-they said they will accept my insurance, got billed again, and now they're saying that yes, while they do accept my insurance, they are not covered by it!!??? There is a difference....accepting insurance, and being covered by insurance means two different things to the physicians office.
In conclusion-when you go to NWH, make sure, first- that they accept your insurance, second- that your doctor is covered by the same insurance that they accept, and third-that your responsibility is your co-pay and not the visit. It's splitting hairs I know, but in my case it's added to over 5k in bills.....and it's how the doctors are raking it in before the OBAMACARE takes affect.
