Callaway Gardens is equated with nature, peace, and serenity. The gardens and dining in the Piedmont lives up that expectation. Somewhere along the way some of the staff at Callaway has forgotten that they are not just selling rooms and attractions, they are selling a customer experience. In that regard the staff at the Lodge and Spa failed miserably. The lobby was filled with people and room assignments were chaotic. In my case I waited an hour and 20 minutes for a room and was twice offered a room that was already occupied. Mind you, I had a reservation 2 months out and had confirmed my impending arrival three times a week before my arrival to include the day of arrival. To add insult to the situation the manager never apologized nor offered any concession for such gross incompetence and inconvenience.

Fantasy in Lights was equally disorganized to gain access to. The website for Callaway Gardens is totally an inept waste. You can purchase your ticket, however, no e-ticket is forwarded to you. Resultantly you must line up in lengthy traffic to park, then walk to a will call office to receive your ticket to drive your vehicle through Fantasy in Lights.

Callaway Gardens has been around too long to not have command of increased holiday traffic. Those inefficient displays of horrible customer service are unforgivable. What should have been a relaxed and magical getaway for the holidays was a frustrating and infuriating ordeal. The room in the Lodge didn't even have a hook to hang a bath robe. I think Callaway Gardens needs to regroup and develop a customer centered experience if they expect a return visit.
