K Fisher Review of Grand Vu Restaurant
Do not believe much from the Grand Vu Lodge websit...
Do not believe much from the Grand Vu Lodge website or fliers. According to the resort layout map it seems that there is ample room between lake homes and sufficient parking - this isn't accurate. We were glad that all but one night the cabin neighbors were quiet. 1.) There wasn't Wi-Fi access at all lake homes like stated. This didn't bother our family much as we didn't vacation there to browse the web but this was an advertised amenity that we didn't receive. 2.) While the owner Jeff is patriotic and cares much about our country he doesn't seem to care much about his customers and knows very little about customer service. Our welcome to the resort was - lets say - less than desired and this attitude carried through the entire week. 3.) The lake home we had for the week was supposed to be remodeled within the last 3 years but it wasn't evident as to what was done. We had to step carefully on certain areas of the floor because it seemed that we could break through the floorboards at any time. The hot water heater started leaking, from the drain valve during one night, and using a couple of crescent wrenches this was fixed but the owner showed no gratitude for the free repair job. All faucets and fixtures seemed like they were plumbed by a kindergartner. 4.) The lake home we staying in was filthy and seemed that it hadn't been cleaned in some time. Spiders crawled out from cracks everywhere. 5.) I also take issues with being charged $100 for a boat slip that should be included within the price of a lakeside resort. It seems that most resorts on Leech Lake are this way but it would be a benefit not to nickel and dime customers. We have stayed for years at a couple of resorts on Lake Winnie and never been charged for a slip or ramp fee. 6.) The one person that seemed to care was Jason the dock hand. My hat goes off to him as he always was there when needed. Most daily activities are non-existent unless requested - i.e. nightly bonfires. If you wanted a fire you had to do it all yourself. I don't recommend this resort and our family will definitely not return. A stay at a Lake Winnie resort would have been comparable and half the price at most.
