I stayed at the Astor Crowne Plaza for six days and I am only giving this hotel 2 stars and not 1 because of it's convenient location. My family booked this hotel through a local travel agent and we were extremely excited to be in walking distance to so many of New Orleans popular tourist sites. When we booked in the young white man was very curt and cold. Unfortunately we were given an very small room (#2229) on the "old" side of the building. Our veiw literally consisted of a wall and a window looking directly into the hotel room across from us which was about 6 feet away, so I never fully opened the curtains.
Next I wasn't sure what bar was located so close to our vicinity that we could hear a constant loud bass line at least 22 hours a day that even vibrated the window but I'm sure I could write a hip-hop bass line in my sleep. To touch on the noise a bit more, everytime someone even walked or talked down the hall from us we could hear it, not to mention if anyone got close to our door so I got to hear entire drunk conversations as clear as a bell. Just so we are clear, the walls and doors are paper thin.
Our second night there our toilet clogged (they have very low flow toilets) and it took almost an hour to for them to send someone to unclog it. I have a feeling that it would have been much longer if I hadn't called housekeeping ever 15 minutes to ask when someone was going to come up.
Lastly I want to add the the room is very dated, TV is old, and there are barely any amenities. Hopefully they will consider updating their rooms, adding more/better insulation, and paying their staff higher wages. This hotel has such great potential with proper management and some quality updates.
