In town for the COTA US MotoGP round. First I would like to explain why not 5 stars. On Saturday morning the track was supposed to be open at 0745 hours. We Ubered from our hotel in Austin just as heavy rain began to fall. Walked across the parking lot from the posted Uber point as the rain turned into a deluge with thunder and lightning. It was past 0745 hours and the entrance was not open. A group of around 100 race attendees were standing under the flimsy tents used by the staff to check tickets and backpacks. We were told by COTA staff to return to our vehicles, which none of us had. We were then told that it was "not safe" for the COTA staff to open the gates even though we were out in that weather. Really, not safe for the staff but what about US? Finally, around 0830 hours we were let into a safe interior portion of the facility. Bad move COTA! Be more considerate of your guests.
Another small gripe is that by the end of the weekend the restrooms were not clean, trash overflowing, stinky. Better than porta johns but, come on.
Now, I gave the track 4 stars even after that occurring because the rest of our time there was outstanding. We had VIP tickets for all 3 days. The staff were great! The food was good and the track was amazing! Everyone we met and interacted with was friendly, courteous and helpful. We will definitely be back again because where else in the US can you mingle with international racing personalities and witness such a great spectator sport.
