The Last Saturday in August My wife and I set out to replace an Infiniti coming off lease. I had previously stopped in and conveyed my interest in the new Q60 coup at the Hartford Infiniti dealer. The car is for my wife but selfishly I was attempting to steer her towards the Q60. When we arrived I could see the salesman I had previously engaged was tied up. He told me to come back in an hour. Normally I would have politely declined but I figured my wife and I could drive the short distance to Connecticut Boulevard and look at the Lexus and Audi offerings before heading back to the Infiniti dealership. First stop the Lexus dealership which was surprisingly busy as well. Not one individual approached me and I spent a significant amount of time looking at the RX and NX crossovers as they caught my wife's attention. After standing idle for 10-15 minutes and not being approached we left and headed to the next door Audi dealer. Inside it was even more busy than the Lexus showroom. I had been inside for only 3-5 minutes when salesman Peter Helou broke briefly away from clients he was setting up for a test drive to offer his help. He explained he was heading out for a test drive and would help when he returned. He also answered a couple questions I had. As someone who has salesman employed at my business I was impressed how he was able to just divert his attention enough to my wife and I without compromising the attention he had with the couple about to take a test drive. It worked out well since we spent the next 15 minutes looking at vehicles in the showroom and outside. When Peter returned he came directly over and explained that the couple who took the test drive are converting their interest into a purchase. Peter asked me to hold on one minute and he would get his manager to help us. Peter introduced Dani and Dani proceeded to answer a few questions. My wife had already told me she wanted a Q3 Prestige S line just like the vehicle in the showroom. We own a Q5 already so did not need much convincing and Dani and I set out to negotiate a deal. Between Peter and Dani they both handled the situation professionally by neither alienating us or the other couple and the willingness to make sure I did not leave the showroom without the proper attention was refreshing. Though Dani pitched in on a very busy Saturday Peter referred back to my wife and I a couple of times. Peter earned our praise on his diligence to pursue the car we wanted and make certain the delivery was at a convenient time. Additionally his delivery of the vehicle demonstrated great competence with the product and his comfortable and confident demeanor was an attribute I have rarely found in previous experience shopping for a vehicle.
