Easily one of the best national parks (though I've only been to 31 so far) due to the completely different vibe than usual. The cacti and thorny vegetation that grow everywhere between the saguaros are stunning, and impressive beyond just their flowering, spiny goodness for their ability to thrive in what must be the world's most diverse desert.
But I'm writing this review more about the young ranger who went through our kids Junior Ranger books. I wish I could remember his name, but he was a young 20s Hispanic guy and went absolutely above and beyond, checking all three kids every answer and talking for at least an hour with us about the chollas, the animals here, and everything in between. He was a wonderful person to spend a sliver of life with and I hope his dream of becoming a law enforcement or interpretive ranger comes true.
Oh, and the western unit is better than the eastern, though it gets less recognition. More of everything.
