James Baker Review of Sirata Beach Resort

We stayed for a weekend from 6/1 to 6/4. We booked our trip a few months ago and were very nervous about the construction noise/debris reviews and even contemplated a change of plans because of them. Now, I will start off by saying, I don t know what kind of people have been writing said complaints... we can only assume they fall into the same category as Bridezilla s! We didn t hear any construction and there was certainly no construction debris anywhere. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very pleasant young lady (I can t remember her name but she had some swelling around her right eye like she had been in an accident). She was very thorough, polite, informative and answered our questions with confidence and a smile. The lobby was nice and clean, we only wish there were cocktails there for our walk to the room. Speaking of room, it was not what we expected. It was beautiful and very clean. Obviously a recent renovation; A mini-suite with a queen bed upon entry, enter a hall with a large vanity counter top and ginormous mirror then into the living/kitchen area with a super comfy couch (turns out it was a pull-out/sleeper couch) a small dining table, toaster, microwave, coffee maker w/coffee and a full size fridge (this was excellent, given there is a small market across the street so we could stock up on assorted beverages).
We made our way to Rum Runners and were greeted by Dominick. His sense of humor was right up our alley with a very island-time attitude which is what we were looking for. He was very accommodating, polite, friendly and very funny. We had a great opening night. We did order the Conch Fritters and I was a little disappointed with them. A bit on the doughy side although the flavor was nice but they were just really, heavy. Must not have minded them too much cause we ate them! In fact, over the weekend we ate a lot off their food items and overall, the only hiccup were the fritters. Adult bevs are just that so I won t talk of the cold brew and stiff shots. We did go to the beach. WOW!!! It was absolutely breath-taking and gorgeous!! As far as you can see, it was blue sky, blue water and white sand! We walked for hours and met people and swam and relaxed. It was perfect! For giggles we even did a cabana thing early Sunday morning and Chad was awesome!! Apparently, the young kids who work the beach hadn t showed up yet but there he was.. probably in his 50 s, busting his hump, setting things up, out of breath but by God, he was as pleasant as could be and was super-nice. We even hunted him down at the end of the day to tell him thank you for the service he gave us early that morning. All in all, we had a weekend to remember! Everything was perfect and we want to thank all the staff who made our stay extraordinary and having us already planning a return trip to see the property when their facelift is complete. Thank you Dominick, Troy, JC (Jo Carol) Angela, Robert, Chad and Ryan for giving us a weekend of phenomenal service and always treating us like we were darn-near royalty.
A bit of advice for all those high maintenance reviewers, read a book on Island Time and bring that mentality with you. It s not about hurrying up to eat and run to the pool and run here and there. It s about stopping, taking a breath, sticking your toes in the sand, splashing in the water and leaving you cell phone in your room. The world won t end if you don t take a business call and start talking shop on a family or romantic trip. Enjoy it and absorb it. You ll live longer and be much, much happier. Thank you Sirata for giving us such a great weekend and we ll see you soon!
