Judy Smith Review of The Roundhouse at Beacon Falls

The Roundhouse is a great place to eat and hang out. The restaurant was divided into three separate parts, The Patio, 2EM, and Swift. I've mostly eaten at "The Patio," which is a gorgeous, fun outdoor space, complete with a great waterfall and a resident Blue Heron named Morty who enjoyed fishing there. I've enjoyed their steak and melon salads, as well as their burgers, steak frites and lobster rolls. The shrimp is poached and a bit underdone for my taste, but that's just me. The bar has lodge feel complete with living room chairs set in front of a beautiful fireplace. The bar was named 2EM for 2 East Main, the address of the historic mill that operated using the waterfall for power, and was restored into this unique restaurant. "Swift" was a fine dining venue, and was known for its experimental, unique, sophisticated fare. It was not my cup of tea, as I'm more a steak house kind of girl, and I enjoyed the more causal fare at 2EM which offered a menu similar to that of "The Patio." Recently, they revised their format to go a little more mainstream and joined the three spaces into one venue with one menu. I've not had the pleasure of eating there since the change except for twice during Hudson Valley Restaurant week, when the menu was naturally limited again, but the food was excellent. The service is knowledgeable and attentive and all in our party of 8 had a great time. I'm hoping to get reservations for Thanksgiving dinner there this week. They had a "Waterfall Lighting" party last night and the fiber optic lighting is just beautiful. I'm a local and hear nothing but raves about their event/wedding venue. We'll be back soon and often and I look forward to having this gem right here in my neighborhood where it's bringing many more visitors to our fabulous little city on the Hudson!
