The Council's proposed private renter licensing is a damaging and mis-targeted policy. It will bring higher rents for tenants, discourage responsible landlords and not achieve its aims. Laws exist to maintain high rental standards, enforce those, rather than bringing in more unnecessary bureaucracy.
