What's the point of reserving seats if people sit ...

What's the point of reserving seats if people sit in the wrong seats and make it an uncomfortable situation for YOU and having to ask them to move ? There was a snuggled-up-cozy-looking couple taking up my seat and I didn't want to go through the awkwardness of breaking them up and then the theater filled up and people had to tell me to move and they were rude about it . I went to management asking for a refund and they told me I "should have told him to move in the first place" , maybe so . . but is it too much to ask for a relaxing experience without having to confront anyone or have any drama ?
