HP does not stand behind their products. I sent in a laptop that would not power on. The will not fix it because it has physical damage. Supervisor told me any dings, scratches, dents, etc will void the warranty even if they have nothing to do with the issue. She said I should take it to Best Buy or a local shop....Well check their parts site and they do not offer motherboards for this model so no one else can fix it.
Years ago I opened a new HP version of a palm pilot. Opened it up and the lower corner of the screen was dark and did not display. I sent it in and they not only said this wasn't covered, they also said I had to either pay to get if fixed (over $200 for a $300 device) or pay a bench fee for refusing service. So they would not cover a device that was bad right out of the box.
